Subject Area Communities

Interested in broadening your knowledge of a particular area of security? ASIS Subject Area Communities allow members to connect around the globe on their specific security topic of interest. Join to ask questions, share resources, and build professional relationships all while ensuring you’re informed on latest issues and trends surrounding your fields of interest.

While Chapters represent local and regional programs, Communities sever a larger geographical area on Global Scale. There are Steering Committee Members for each 36 subject areas mentioned below.

  1. Banking and Financial Services

    • ​This is an open community for all members interested in security issues related to banking and financial services. This community aims to serve as the leading resource for current trends, best practices, benchmarking, education, and industry-specific surveys affecting security professionals involved in banking and financial industry security, loss prevention, and risk management.

  2. Cannabis Security

    • This is an open community with the mission to provide information and resources to those involved in the cannabis space including both high- and low-THC cannabis. This includes hemp and both medicinal and recreational adult-use cannabis.  The community is working to provide best practices for physical and cybersecurity as it relates to the personnel, site requirements, security requirements, and ongoing operations at dispensaries, grow facilities, transport, extraction and biproduct manufacture, and other related topics.  We are also providing a library section for those of you with products that support the cannabis industry.  

  3. Commercial Real Estate

    • ​This is an open community for members interested in security issues related to commercial real estate. This community aims to provide a credible and progressive source of information and leadership regarding security, life safety, and emergency preparedness issues affecting the commercial real estate industry.

  4. Crime Prevention

    • ​This is an open community for all members interested in security issues related to crime prevention. This community aims to support ASIS International in facilitating, recognizing and promoting discussion, research, education and awareness programs that enhances societal capacity to mitigate crime related risks, in all forms.

  5. Crisis Management and Business Continuity

    • ​This is an open community for all members interested in security issues related to crisis management and business continuity. This community aims to serve as the leading resource for promotion of crisis management, business continuity, and organizational resilience standards and best practices worldwide. Sponsors educational programs, participates in industry associations, facilitates public-private partnerships, and promulgates standards, guidelines, and best practices.

  6. Critical Infrastructure

    • ​This is an open community for all members interested in security issues related to critical infrastructure. This community aims to leveraging the variety of ASIS events, activities, and tools, Critical Infrastructure is embarking on a program to educate security professionals on the concepts, principles, and practices that contribute to enhancing critical infrastructure resilience. This includes examining local, national and international resilience projects, investigating resilience best practices, developing a library of resilience resources, promoting the development of ASIS webinars, seminars and presentations, and building a platform for cross-Council collaboration for the enhancement of resilience.

  7. Cultural Properties

    • ​This is an open community for all members interested in security issues related to cultural properties. This community aims to serve as the leading resource for education, outreach, and suggested protection for institutions dedicated to the preservation, presentation, and stewardship of cultural resources: thought, speech, action, artifacts, and built heritage; to include museums, libraries, faith-based organizations, performing arts centers, and any cultural facility concerned with the protection of people, valuable collections, and other assets.
